Top 7 Tips and Tricks for Getting Your Eblast Noticed!

If you send out an Eblast You want it to be seen right?

Well here are 7 tips that will help your eblast stand out!

1. Use a Descriptive Headline:

There is nothing more crucial to a good eblast than a descriptive headline. Picture the headline as a cover letter of a resume, if you don’t have a good one, there’s a higher chance it won’t get looked at no matter how outstanding you may be.

This approach also helps get your eblast past spam filters, if you have a generic title such as “Just Reduced!”

More on which headlines work and which don’t in a later post.

2. Appropriate Headline Length:

Since the large majority of realtors use an email reader such as outlook instead of a webmail interface (like yahoo or hotmail), headlines need to be shorter than 35 characters, 25 is ideal to ensure that the headline is displayed to the reader in its entirety.

3. Bigger is not Always Better:

When designing an Eblast it is a good rule of thumb to remember that most users have their screen resolution set to 1024 x 768 or smaller. This said, if your eblast is 1000 pixels wide the people you are trying to reach are using Outlook to view their emails, most of your eblast will get chopped off in the preview screen.

4. Remember Who is Receiving your Eblasts:

Since the large majority of eblasts are sent to realtors, many of which receive more emails than they would like already, make it apparent what your property is about. This can be done with pictures or words, but get to the point.

5. Number of Eblasts Sent Daily:

If your provider is sending out numerous emails daily, what sets yours apart? Request to have your agency put on its own account, and to have your eblasts sent from a separate email. This ensures that if someone unsubscribes because they are sick of receiving emails from a low quality agency they won’t be removed from your list, unless they request to be.

6. Design your Eblast in HTML:

Since Outlook and webmail interfaces are built around html why use just an image? It is not only more functional but your eblast will load faster.

If you integrate html and some inline css you have much more control over what the Eblast looks like on your recipients screen. This has become most useful since outlook and even some webmail interfaces now block images until the user chooses to see them.

By using html your recipient will see more than just a blocked out image (which is often displayed as an X) This also helps to separate your email from spam, as many top spam filters flag emails with one large image and very little text.

If you do use an image with image maps, make sure that your eblast is centered on the page.

7. Send Your Eblasts at Logical Times

There is nothing that makes you want to smash your Smart Phone more than receiving an eblast at 3 am. Hopefully you have the sound off at night, but we all remember those first few night.

By sending eblasts out at times where the recipient is in front of the computer or has Outlook open they are much more likely to view your email. Prime times are during normal working hours and before noon on Friday.

Make sure your provider is sending between these times. If not your eblast may just be getting deleted.
